Wellbeing

My goal was to design a PTSD Clinic for Children by transforming the Chemistry Centre into a place dedicated to improving their wellbeing. Removing any institutionalised feeling was the first step in providing an immediate sense of calm and relief. Rooms on the ground floor were used to provide non-invasive therapy and mending whereas the upper floor provides privacy and is dedicated to long term stays. The common spaces provide expression, interaction, trust and healing and mitigate any trauma triggers. The design offers a progressive approach that involves a wide-range of considerations including sensory sensitive materials, colours and textures, carefully chosen to improve mood and behaviour.
